Oncology
Our oncology services include a review of the diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, and supportive care—all tailored to your pet’s condition and your family’s goals. Staging refers to evaluating how far the cancer has progressed in the body (spread) and may involve imaging, lab work, or sampling lymph nodes to guide appropriate treatment decisions. Whether you're pursuing definitive treatment, palliative care, or integrative support, we work closely with you to design a plan that prioritizes both comfort and quality of life.
Oral chemotherapy options (including metronomic chemotherapy) are available when appropriate and require frequent lab work monitoring. Immunotherapy options such as the Oncept melanoma vaccine and Torigen’s autologous cancer vaccine may also be recommended depending on your pet’s diagnosis. We help coordinate care with local oncologists when injectable chemotherapy or advanced imaging is needed.
Please note: Radiographs (X-rays) and CT scans are not currently available. Abdominal ultrasounds can be arranged upon request and are performed at our partnered office location.
Chinese herbal formulas are used to support immune function, manage side effects, and improve quality of life in pets with cancer. Based on a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) assessment, herbs are selected to complement your pet’s treatment plan—either on their own or alongside conventional therapies. We use high-quality veterinary formulas, primarily from Jing Tang Herbal, to ensure safety and consistency. Chinese herbs are often integrated alongside acupuncture, nutrition, and comfort care for a balanced, whole-body approach.
Chinese Herbal Medicine for Cancer Treatment
Acupuncture for Pets
Acupuncture is an ancient, non-invasive therapy that stimulates specific points on the body to reduce pain, restore balance, and promote healing. By placing fine needles at targeted acupuncture points, the treatment enhances circulation, releases natural endorphins (feel-good hormones), and activates the body’s innate ability to heal.
Acupuncture can benefit pets with a variety of conditions, including:
· Pain and mobility issues (arthritis, back pain, hip dysplasia)
· Neurologic disorders (intervertebral disc disease, nerve injuries)
· Gastrointestinal problems (nausea, diarrhea, inappetence)
· Chronic illnesses (kidney disease, allergies, asthma)
· Cancer-related symptoms (fatigue, nausea, pain)
· Anxiety and stress-related behaviors
Most pets tolerate acupuncture very well—many even relax or fall asleep during treatment. It is often used alongside other therapies to support overall well-being and enhance quality of life.
Nutritional Support
Nutrition plays a vital role in your pet’s overall health, especially when managing cancer or chronic illness. We offer dietary guidance based on your pet’s diagnosis, constitution, and treatment plan—whether that involves home-cooked meals, therapeutic diets, or integrative recommendations rooted in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).
We emphasize the benefits of incorporating whole, fresh foods—either on their own or in combination with commercial diets—to support digestion, immune function, and overall well-being. Our goal is to help you nourish your pet with food that supports both healing and quality of life.
